It's true that fear and anxiety are natural human responses to the threats we encounter, perceive, or anticipate; however, the uncertainties inherent in our lives on a personal and global level almost inevitably give rise to feelings of anxiety. Most of us experience bodily responses like muscle tension, rapid heartbeat, cognitive responses (anticipating something unfortunate happening in our future) and behavioral responses (e.g., choosing not to do something because it may make us uncomfortable) that signals the presence of anxiety from time to time. Gradually, their anxious responses become severe and pervasive, causing intense distress and severely restricting or impinging on quality of life.
