Learning to plant herb garden plants is really easy, you only need to stick to the following tips to have a really beautiful and useful herb garden:

1. You have to decide what herbs to grow, how large they will be and what you want to use them for.

2. You will need to determine how much space you have in order to work out how many and what types of herbs to grow.

3. You need to plan the area you want to put your herbs, making sure the larger ones are at the back and ground covering plants at the front.

4. Allow enough space for plants to grow properly, some plants need an awful lot of space to grow as they get larger

5. Keep an eye on places where there is sunlight, too much sunlight is bad for your herbs so plan where the sunlight is going to be so that there is shade in the afternoons in the summer months when the sun is at its hottest.

6. Knowing the type of soil you have will help you have a healthy herb, some herbs prefer alkaline soil and some prefer a more neutral soil. Plan what herbs you need and adjust the soil content accordingly.

7. Watch out for plant height, some herbs grow tall so you need to look for herbs that do not grow too tall for indoor gardening

8. Get seeds that have a pleasing color when they bloom, it will add accent to your home. Bearing in mind that if you wish to have herbs for culinary purposes you don't want them to flower as it takes the flavor from the leaves

9. Make sure that you harvest regularly to ensure good healthy plants. By doing this you will ensure that the herb doesn't flower and prolong your herbs lifespan.

10. Give the plants the care and attention they need and watch out for damage to them. Pests are the main cause of damage to herbs so keep an eye out for them on your plants and don't overwater your herbs either as it can cause root rot

When you finally decide to plant herb garden plants, you don't need to have separate ornamental plants. You can have the benefits an ornamental plant brings to you as well as the same benefits as those herbs you plant for medicinal or culinary purposes. Simply mix them up at planting bearing in mind the sizes of the plants when fully grown and the types of soil they may need. The success of your herb garden depends on how you take care of it. The life of the plant depends on you, when you take enough care of the herbs, they can grow their best and give you wonderful flavorsome and aromatic herbs for a long long time.

By planting herb garden plants at home you will provide yourself with numerous benefits. By planting different herbal plants, you're also helping the earth by bringing back the balance of nature. Some herbs are extinct that's why most of them cannot be seen in the wild anymore. Herbal plants are really helpful as herbal medicines; they provide remedies to some common ailments such as colds and flu. It is important to have a home remedy available like this especially when you have kids at home.

Having your own herbs at home is really beneficial, you will not spend extra money buying first aid remedies, and everything can just be within your reach. Aloe Vera for burns is a good example, simply cut off a piece of the leaf and rub the sap onto a burn or sunburn for soothing relief. As the world becomes more and more advanced, people tend to move away from nature and towards technology; this is making them risk their health by eating instant and processed foods as well as relying on synthetic medications from pharmaceutical companies.
